I couldn't come up with a better title, but these are my memories of the late 80s from the East when it comes to experimental synth music. Junost made their debut with Future Waves at the 1798 ambient label. It was as usual: the 1798 newsletter comes in, I click on it an hour before bedtime because I know 1798 never disappoints. But instead of the expected drone and ambient piece, something completely different came here. The background sound of the Sandman episode when he was on the moon. Reinhard Lakomy sounds. Thomas Natschinski. That's how I would classify Junost's album. Cold, East German or completely Eastern European, in a positively frightening way, just like the sounds listed above scared me as a 4-year-old back then. Complete "The Angry Red Planet" vibes come across here. Fortunately, I could still sleep very well. Who knows how Junost managed to pull that off.
